Yet another way to avoid doing the taxes...

It is all about the birds (avoiding doing taxes) around the Anarchy Estate this weekend. Three little bird families are taking up residency in the Vining Akeba that overtakes grows up the side of my front porch with a fourth bird family eyeing the new topiary with the interest of a couple who need to get moved in before an imminent arrival.

Such twittering inspired me as I was looking through (wasting time) the Graphics Fairy's collection of wonderful bird themed images.   I found these wonderful trading cards and knew they would be just right for a little nesty fun.

To begin I downloaded and  formatted three of the trading card images on to one sheet for easy printing. I printed them out of heavy card stock. ( I used white, due to my inability to find my stash of linen weave card stock- epic organization fail on my  part). After printing out and cutting apart I used my Making Memories Distressing Kit to age up the cards a bit.  Can't say enough about this little kit. It has changed over time and the newer version than mine looks even better. I scored mine with a 40% of coupon at Hobby Lobby 3 years ago  but after owning it I would pay full price to get it again if need ever be.

To distress the cards I sanded the edges for a subtle worn look and then inked the edges and  aged the tops and backs a bit. Nothing dramatic, but gives them a nice vintage feel given that they just rolled off the printer 5 minutes before the transformation. ( sorry no pics -fail #2)

I grabbed up a small urn I had sitting around and  while not exactly the color I was looking for it was generally all right. ( which of course is code for I was to lazy to paint it further for this project)  Of course after that it was just some mini grapevine wreath pulled apart and shoved in the urn with the ever so popular Spanish moss. After that I just laid in the eggs and tucked in the trading cards.

It has honestly taken longer to write this post than the whole project took me, including formatting the images for easy printing!

Should you possibly also need a time waster I am providing the formatted  3 card to a page file for free download on my Domestic Anarchy page over at Facebook.  Just click " follow" above and to the left and then you can go to the page over at facebook and retrieve the image for your own printing and distressing pleasure.

If you need just a single image hop right over to the oh so wonderful Graphics Fairy an you will find the trading cards under the Birds option for images.

Enjoy and send me a note about what you do with the files.. I love to see other ideas!
